Free public beta
Install SyncX
During the public beta, SyncX installs with one line in Terminal. It fetches the latest release, verifies it and puts SyncX in your Applications folder.
curl -fsSL https://www.syncx-app.com/install.sh | shThree steps
- 1
Open Terminal
Press ⌘ Space, type Terminal and press Return. It also lives in Applications › Utilities.
- 2
Paste and press Return
Copy the command above, paste it into Terminal and press Return. It takes about a minute and prints each step.
- 3
SyncX opens
SyncX opens by itself when the install finishes, with no Open Anyway step in System Settings. Later you will find it in Applications.
What the command does
- Downloads only from this website, over HTTPS
- Checks the file size and SHA-256
- Checks the code signature, bundle ID and version
- Installs into Applications without sudo
- Keeps the previous app as a dated backup
- Leaves your library, media and logins alone
Why Terminal only?
The beta is not Apple-notarized yet, so macOS blocks a downloaded installer until you approve it in System Settings. The command verifies the files first, then removes the quarantine flag only from SyncX.app — Gatekeeper stays on for everything else. A regular download will follow once SyncX is notarized.
Updates, removal and other systems
Update
When a new version is out, an Update button appears in the top-right corner of SyncX. One click downloads it, verifies it like the install command does and restarts SyncX; your library stays as it is. Before 0.6.8, run the install command again instead.
Remove
Quit SyncX and move SyncX.app to the Trash. Your library and media live in a separate data folder and stay until you delete it.
Windows and Linux
In preparation. The public beta is Mac-only for now.
