YouTube × SyncX

Back up your YouTube likes and Watch Later

Liked videos and Watch Later pile up, and videos get taken down or made private. SyncX keeps those lists on your computer and can save the video files, so a removed video still plays.

How it works

Set it up once.

  1. 1

    Sign in to YouTube

A normal window of Chrome, Edge, Brave or Chromium opens for your Google account. You can also import an existing YouTube login.

  2. 2

Pick likes, Watch Later and playlists

Choose how often to check — every 12 hours by default. Older items are backfilled in batches.

  3. 3

    Search, watch, export

Find a video by title or channel, play the saved file, and export any filtered result as JSON or CSV.

What SyncX collects

Your own account

  • Liked videos
  • watch later
  • playlists

Public accounts

  • Signing in

Sign in through a normal window of Chrome, Edge, Brave or Chromium, or explicitly import an existing login. Your everyday browser session is never read on its own.

  • Media

Videos can be saved on this Mac or on a NAS, at the quality you choose in Settings. Videos past your length or size limit stay online. A saved video still plays after YouTube removes it. Covers stay online.

  • Current limits

Only your own liked videos, Watch Later and playlists are collected. Other people’s channels are not. Some videos need a signed-in download; if YouTube refuses, SyncX waits and tries again later.

Questions

Are YouTube videos downloaded?

Yes, when you turn on saving videos. SyncX stores the file on this Mac or on a NAS, at the quality you choose. A saved video still plays after it is removed from YouTube.

What if a video I liked is taken down?

If SyncX saved the file before it was removed, you can still watch it. The title, channel and link stay either way.

Does it collect channels I subscribe to?

No. It collects your liked videos, Watch Later and playlists.

Like and save as usual. SyncX does the rest.

Free public beta. Your library never leaves your computer.
